Blockchain and Industry 4.0
In “Real-Time Systems Implications in the Blockchain-Based Vertical Integration of Industry 4.0,” Garrocho et al. analyze a real scenario via a proof of concept in a blockchain-based, industrial process automatization system and showed several limitations regarding time, variation, and loss of blocks, which is unacceptable due to the high-reliability requirements in
this type of settings. If blockchain is better suited for applications to support
auditing and the implementation of business/process roles will be looked at in future studies.
