Daniela Mayumi Ushizima

Academic degree: She holds a degree in Computer Science from the Federal University of São Carlos (1998), a master’s degree (2000) and a Ph.D. (2004) in Computational Physics from the University of São Paulo. Post-doctorate (2010) at the Lawrence National Berkeley Laboratory in California. 

 

Job: Researcher scientist at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL), in Berkeley, California, United States. Since 2013, she is vice-leader of the Visualization group of the Computational Research Division at LBNL. She worked as a professor at the Catholic University of Santos (2005-2007), was a member of the Intelligent System Group and researcher-collaborator of the Brazilian groups: Image Processing Group and the Vision, Images and Signs Laboratory (GPI / LABVIS), UFC (2005-present), and Computer and Multimedia Group, UFSM (2005-2008). 

 

Expertise: She has experience in Computer Science, focusing on Computer Vision, acting on the following subjects: processing and analysis of digital signals and images, pattern recognition, medical images, quantitative microscopy, segmentation, measurements from computed tomography, SAR , and high-performance computing.
